New York Chapter Leader

Sujay Sundar

My name is Sujay Sundar and I am a freshman at Jericho High school. I am passionate about Computer and Bio Sciences, Business management and Math. I presented a Scratch-based application on Environmental best practices in 5th grade at the New York Hall of Science STEM night and this received a special mention from the New York City Chancellor. I was selected to represent my school at the FBLA New York State competition for which I built a GUI application to track student community service hours. I received the first prize, among Long Island high schools, in the Emerging Leaders Business Competition in the Healthcare Category. I am currently pursuing several Technology and Soft Skills Courses.

As one of the GCL Chapter leaders in New York, I hope to share my passion for computer science with the community, particularly in under-represented demographics, by conducting hackathons, innovation workshops, STEAM days and facilitating tech clubs. I am the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award and I am currently interning with my County Legislator on Crisis Mitigation. I am CPR trained and helped manually build face shields for local first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, practicing classical music and I am also part of my school’s chess team.”

As one of the GCL Chapter leaders in New York, I hope to share my passion for computer science with the community, particularly in under-represented demographics, by conducting hackathons, innovation workshops, STEAM days and facilitating tech clubs. A proud girl scout, I am passionate about community service and have received the President’s Volunteer service gold award. I also helped manually build 200 face shields for local first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic. In my spare time I enjoy playing basketball and chess, designing mandala art, playing the violin, pursuing classical vocal music and dance.”

Join Our Community

Girls Computing League works hard every day to help students achieve their dreams of entering a technical career field. We work with companies both to create higher education opportunities for students and hunt for mentors willing to support the next generation of computer scientists. However, we are reliant on our global community of enthusiasts, students and activists to bring about true change. If you are a student who would like to join this local chapter and be apart of the movement to bring about global change through computer science click on the button below to get started.
